Stitch Fix Review- Super-sized!

Well friends, I have been so busy with getting ready for a new school year, and actually teaching the first few weeks that I have sadly neglected my blog, and have drastically fallen behind with my Stitch Fix reveal/review posts.

I am linking up with Maria Manore at Crazy Together for this post.  You can head to her blog to find even more bloggers who have linked up their fixes!

Because I am so behind, todays review is going to be a SUPERSIZED Stitch Fix review.  I am three "fixes" behind and have another fix scheduled to be delivered this week so I need to get caught up.

Enjoy!

First, if you are not familiar with Stitch Fix and how it works, here is a quick overview:

1. Start by filling out your style profile - you will complete all sorts of questions on sizing, pricing, style preferences, colors, etc.

2. Order your first fix! A personal stylist will put together a box of 5 items based on your style profile.  Once your fix ships you will be charged a $20 styling fee-  however, if you keep any item [one or more] you will be credited back the $20.

3. Decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back -it is so easy to return items you are not keeping in the provided postage paid envelope Stitch Fix provides!

Here we go folks!

FIX #7

Market and Spruce Randall Scoop Neck Polka Dot Tank $48

I love this top!  Cute polka dots and I like the burgundy trim on the bottom.  Kept!

Collective Concepts Clement Scoop Neck Blouse  $54
I liked this top, but the scoop neck was too "scooped" and revealed my whole chest.  Returned.

41 Hawthorn Edwin Scarf Print Top  $58
I like the print of this top, and it would match many cardigans I already have, but when I tried it on the arm holes seemed too tight around my arms.  Sadly, returned.

Fun2Fun Arlington Crew Neck Blouse  $44
I am a sucker for stripes, I think more than half my clothes have stripes on them.  But, this tank was unique and I liked how the back had smaller stripes on the sides, so how could I say no?  Kept!

Kensie Rebekah Contrast Detail Blazer   $88
LOVED this, but needed a size smaller and they did not have one in stock for exchange.  Returned.  But, I found this same blazer at Macy's and grabbed one in the right size during a recent sale!

FIX #8

41 Hawthorn McQue Solid Lace Sleeve Blouse   $48
Liked, didn't love.  Probably would have kept this if it were a brighter color.  Returned.

19 Cooper Bertona Split Neck Top   $58
LOVE!  This has a fun pattern and fun colors and I had to keep it!  Kept!

Pixley Martina Slub Knit Open Cardigan   $48
I want one of these in every color possible!  This cardigan is super soft, and has fun pockets styled into the bottom corners of the cardigan.  Please- send me more!  Kept!

Papermoon Kailyn Pleated Skirt   $54
I really liked this skirt, but needed a size larger and they did not have one for exchange.  Bummer!  I wanted to keep this one so badly!  I am hoping I might see this in a future fix in the size I need.  Returned.

Margaret M Emer High Waisted Trouser  $98
So many people rave about the Emer pants that I really wanted to be able to join in on the excitement.  Sadly, this is the third pair of Emers I have received and they just don't work for me.  Returned.

FIX #9

41 Hawthorn Embry Mixed Material Top  $54
Great fall colors and matches perfectly with a mustard cardigan I have.  Different material on front and back and it is very comfortable. Kept!

Market and Spruce Alan French Terry Asymmetrical Zip Cardigan   $68
So soft, so warm, so comfortable.  I just want to snuggle up in this cardigan and read a book.  The side zip gives it a unique look.  Kept!

Market and Spruce Sawyer Space Dye Dolman Sleeve Knit Top   $58
I wanted something burgundy in this fix, and this is super cute and soft!  I wasn't too sure about the dolman sleeves, but I thought I would give them a try and I kind of like them, at least on this top.  Kept!

Skies are Blue Ferris Mixed Material Collared Top   $54
Another burgundy top to fulfill my request!  Thanks Jill!  This may seem like a basic everyday plain colored top, but it isn't!  There is a subtle lattice pattern on the front, and the back is a different material.  I really liked this.  Kept!

Kut From the Kloth Jonathan Skinny Corduroy   $68
I love Kut From the Kloth.  I basically buy any pants they send me from this brand!  These are a great pair of cords and I like the slate grey color- not your typical black or brown.  Kept!

Whew!  3 Fixes, 15 items, lots of fun!

Jill has been my stylist for my last three fixes and she is awesome!  I ended up keeping 9 of the 15 items she has sent me in the last three fixes.  If it weren't for some fit issues I would have kept 13 of the 15.  I love Jill!

Does this super sized Stitch Fix reveal make you want to give it a try for yourself?  I would love it if you used my referral link if you would like to sign up to try Stitch Fix!

Stitch Fix #6- July 2015 (Part 2)

This is my second fix from July!

For this fix I requested a fix with all colorful casual tops for summer (short sleeves or tanks) since I am not working/teaching during the summer break and wanted some casual summer tops.

Here is a sneak peak of fix #6:

I have had Natalie as my stylist for all of my first 5 fixes, and she was always right on the mark with what she sent and her stylist notes were always very personal, I could tell she read my requests and looked at my Pinterest style board.

This time I had a different stylist..........

1.  Market & Spruce- Lana Lace Detail V-Neck Blouse-  $58.00

I like this top, but it definitely wasn't a "casual" top as I requested.  However, once I got over the initial disappointment of this fix, I decided I really did like this top, and I decided to keep this top anyways, even though I knew I wouldn't be wearing it for a couple of months.
I can see this top getting a lot of use and being a versatile piece.
It is still sitting in my closet, and will finally get some wear once school starts again in a couple weeks.

Kept

2.  Market & Spruce Channy Open Cardigan- $54.00

Hmmmm.....I requested casual summer tops with short sleeves or tanks......
The day my Stitch Fix box arrived it was over 90 degrees with high humidity making it feel like about 100 degrees outside.  The last thing I even wanted to think about was a sweater!  In no way did this piece fit my request for summer tops, and I also wrote in my style profile that I dislike pastels.

I did like the subtle chevron pattern in the cardigan, and the overall style.  It was very soft.  Had this been a different color and the middle of winter I may have kept it.

Returned

3.  Gilli Arun Dress-  $78.00

Again,  not a casual top, and not colorful.

This dress did fit amazingly, and the fabric was super soft!  Also, the v-neck was not cut too low, which I appreciated!  However, I already have a bunch of black/white and cream/white dresses, so there really was no need for me to add this to my closet.

If it was a different color I probably would have kept this.

Returned

4.  Margaret M Emer Jacquard Print High Waisted Cropped Pant-  $98.00

Hmm...not a top, not casual, and not colorful.....  this seems to be repeating itself...

I have received the Emer pants twice before in this size, and both times I have returned them saying I would like to try these again in a smaller size, if available.
Also, I really have no need for black dress pants in the middle of the hot summer when school is on summer break.

Returned!

5.  Pixley Eileen Honeycomb Texture Knit Tank-  $54.00

Allright!  A top that is casual!  Not very colorful, but I liked the print, the pink on the top of the straps, and the zipper in the back.  This had potential.

Unfortunately, when I tried this on it it was shapeless and it just hung on me in a very unflattering way.

Returned.

This was my first disappointing fix so far.  I have always loved the items I have been sent, and it was always obvious my stylist in the past read my stylist note/requests and looked at my Pinterest style board for inspiration.

I feel like this stylist did not read my note or look at my Pinterest board at all because this fix was not at all what I was expecting/hoping for.  I was so excited to open my box and try out 5 colorful, casual summer tops, and that was not at all what I was sent.

I still love Stitch Fix though!

I left a detailed note when I checked out stating why I was disappointed and customer service emailed me back right away apologizing for the disappointment and they said they were sure they would do better next time!  (hint-  they did do better- my August fix was awesome!- stay tuned)

Stitch Fix #5- July 2015 (Part 1)

It's Stitch Fix time!
I decided to increase the Stitch Fix fun this month by scheduling 2 fixes!
Yep- 2 fixes in one month!

Here is a little sneak peak at what I received in my first July fix- read on for details!

3. Decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back -it is so easy to return items you are not keeping in the provided postage paid envelope!

For this fix I requested fun patterns, colored pants, and summer tops.  Here is what my stylist Natalie chose for me:

1.  Margaret M. Emer Floral Print Cropped Straight Leg Pant-  $98.00

My stylist sure listened to my request for color and patterns!  I have seen pictures online of other people wearing these pants, and looking awesome, so I really wanted to like them.  When I tried them on they were super comfortable, but the floral pattern just wasn't working for me.  It was too busy and no matter what I paired with it I just couldn't make them work without feeling like I just rolled in a rose garden.

Returned.

2.  Market and Spruce Coval V-Neck Top-  $44.00

I love the colors in this top, and it is a pattern that I probably wouldn't have picked up if I were shopping on my own.  That is what I love about Stitch Fix- they have made me try things I "thought" I wouldn't like.  Turns out, I loved this top!  The fabric is super soft, and it can easily be paired with a cardigan in the fall!

Kept

3.  Market and Spruce Nolen Printed Detail Henley Tank-  $54.00

I pinned this top onto my style board, and my stylist delivered!  I don't usually request specific Stitch Fix items, but I really liked this top every time I saw someone else post it in their reviews, and really wanted one for myself.  Obviously, I love this top and am so happy my stylist sent it!

Kept

4.  Henry & Belle Abana Ankle Length Skinny Jean-  $148.00

I asked for colored pants in my note to my stylist, and she chose these.  I was kind of hoping for something a little more colorful than plain blue (seems to similar to jeans), something like turquoise, pink or green.  But, I tried them and gave them a chance.  Whoa- when they say these are "skinny jeans" they aren't kidding!  I kinda felt like I was wearing a wetsuit!  Needless to say, these weren't staying in my closet.  Plus, the day I pay $148.00 for a pair of plain basic blue pants is......well, never!

Returned

5.  Collective Concepts Rosco Floral Print Crochet Detail Tank-  $58.00

Again, my stylist listened to my request for fun patterns, color and summer tops.  However, this one just wasn't me.  I wasn't in love with the pale pink/peach color and it hung on my in an unflattering way.

Returned

I ended up keeping the Nolen top and the Coval top, and I love them both!

Stitch Fix #4 - June

I love when a new Stitch Fix box arrives on my doorstep! I just get so excited to open the box and see what surprises my stylist Natalie has picked out for me.   Here is a summary of my June "Fix".

3. Decide what you want to keep and what you want to send back -it is so easy to return items you are not keeping in the provided postage paid envelope!

Ok, here is my June Fix- ENJOY!

Sneek Peek!

Item #1-  Mavi Sonja Boyfriend Jean- $88.00

I do not have a picture of these jeans because, well, they are jeans....  You can see the color of the jeans in the picture above.  I usually never pay anything close to $88 for jeans, so when I saw these I thought "yeah right".  I have an old pair of Mavi jeans from many years ago (that I got at Marshalls for about $25) and I knew they were super soft jeans.  Once I put these on, I didn't care how much they cost.  Mavi jeans are so comfortable and SO soft, I just love them.  I have already worn them many times.

KEEP

Item #2-  Zad Rhian Mulit-Layer Necklace-  $34.00

I asked for a multi-color necklace in my stylist note, and this one is pink, orange and gold.  While it was cute, I am not usually a big fan of gold, and I felt like I could get something similar somewhere else for much much less.

RETURNED

Item #3-  Collective Concepts Pamela V-Neck Blouse-  $58.00

I also asked for something with polka dots in my stylist note, so once again my stylist Natalie really tried to fill my requests.  I love the multi-colored dots on this top, and the pink/coral color is totally me.  I wanted to keep this shirt, but when I tried it on the armholes were super huge and it just felt very baggy all over.  I really wish this had fit better because I really liked the style and fun dots!

RETURNED

Item #4-  Daniel Rain Lewis Cut-Out Shoulder Blouse-  $64.00

                               BACK                                                       FRONT

I had pinned a fun shirt with a bird print on my Pinterest "style" board, and my stylist saw that and thought I might like this fun bird print shirt.
Look at the adorable little birds!

When I pulled this out of the box I wanted to keep it right away.  I loved the little birds!  When I went to try it on, I was super confused.  It has shoulder cut-outs, an opening and a tie in the back, and an attached cami.  I felt like I was untangling a bunch of jump ropes to get this on!  I was so sad once I finally got it all figured out and actually on the way it was meant to be worn.  It was just too baggy and the shoulder cut-outs did nothing for my arms.  I sadly packed this one into the return envelope.
****I recently saw this exact same shirt on the Anthropologie website for $98.00, so Stitch Fix      definitely had a great price on this top!

RETURNED (sadly)

Item #5-  Daniel Rain Bernal Split Neck Top-  $68.00

                                    BACK                                                FRONT

This shirt was super soft, and I really liked the bright blue (I have told my stylist I like jewel tone colors- she listened!).  I liked that this shirt was casual, but could be dressed up.  I also likes the back, which had little blue pleats across the top.  Sadly, this shirt was just too big.

RETURNED

So, in the end, all I kept were the jeans.  But I was totally OK with that because the jeans were awesome!

Stitch Fix #3 - May 2015

I LOVE Stitch Fix!!!  I have had 3 "fixes" so far, and all of them have been great!  I can't wait to share my May Stitch Fix goodies with you!

First, if you are not familiar with Stitch Fix and how it works, here is a quick summary:

1. Start by filling out your style profile - you will complete all sorts of questions on sizing, pricing, preferences, colors, etc.
2. Order your first fix! Your card will be charged a $20 styling fee however, if you keep any item [one or more] you will be credited back the $20.
3. Decide what you want and what you want to send back -in the provided postage paid envelope!

Ok, here is my May Fix.

1.  Daniel Rainn Tolley Mixed Print Crochet Detail Tie-Neck Top  $68
I had previously noticed this top on Pinterest, and really liked it, so I was excited when I saw it in my May box. I love the mix of prints and the colors.  However, when I tried it on something just seemed odd with the crochet panel.  I think it was too wide and became too much of a focus point for me, instead of a fun detail.

Verdict:  returned

 2.  Sweet Rain Montezuma Split Neck Blouse   $44

I was super excited when I pulled this out of the box.  I loved the color (it is more of a bright mint green, like in the close up photo).  I also liked the print.  The hearts were small enough that they almost looked like polka dots from a distance and did not look like a little kids heart print shirt at all.  This would look great with a pair of white pants!

When I tried this top on it felt too boxy for me.  There was not a lot of definition in the cut of the top.  Plus, it felt too tight across the back.  I was kind of sad that it didn't fit right, I really loved the color, print, and lightweight fabric.
Close up of the print on the top

 Verdict:  returned

3.  Olive & Oak Peyton Dress    $74

The fabric on this dress is SUPER soft!  I love belted shirt dresses, and I liked the color of this one a lot!  I also liked the longer back with the split in the back hem.  Cute!  I felt like the fabric was a little heavy for spring/summer though.  I tried in on and it was immediatly evident that this was not going to work!  It was super baggy, and even when it was belted it felt like a paper sack (or fabric sack).

Verdict:  returned

4.  Papermoon Kasidy Swing Skirt     $58

                                                              Close up of skirt pattern

I loved this right away!  The color, the pattern, the length, the fabric.....everything!  I tried it on and it was just perfect!  The fabric is super soft and the skirt is lined with a lightweight fabric.  This is a perfect skirt for spring/summer!  I have already worn this skirt a couple of times and have received many compliments.

Verdict:  Kept!!!

5.  Pixley Carlie Mixed Lace Short Sleeve Shirt     $54

                                                         Back Cut-Out Detailing

I wasn't so sure about this top when I pulled it out of the box.  I am not usually a huge lace/crochet person.  But, as always, I had to try it on because you never know- right?  I am so glad I gave this top a chance!  It is beautiful!  It looks great with the Papermoon skirt above.  My stylist even sent a cami/tank to wear underneath the top, which I greatly appreciated!  This top have the perfect amount of stretch and it form fitting but not skin tight.  I think it would look great under a cardigan in the fall/winter, so I can use it all year round.  Bonus!  The material is a bit delicate though, so I will have to be careful when wearing this top so I don't snag it.

Verdict:  Kept!

I ended up keeping 2 of the 5 items, which to me is a success!  The skirt will get a lot of wear and the top is so versatile it can be worn in many ways throughout the year.

If you haven't tried Stitch Fix yet, and want to give it a try, I would LOVE it if you used my referral link.  Using my referral link will give me credit in my Stitch Fix account.  Once you order your first box you will get your own referral link that you can then pass along to your friends and family!

Stitch Fix #2 - April 2015

I am very behind on this Stitch Fix post, fix #3 is set to arrive any day now!

With Stitch Fix, you get a box mailed to you with 5 clothing and/or accessories picked out for you by your own personal stylist.  You only keep what you want and you can send back whatever you don’t want in the postage paid envelope. And you can schedule a Fix whenever you want – every 2-3 weeks, monthly, or whenever you want!
If you’d like to learn more about Stitch Fix or sign up for your very own Fix, you can click HERE to start your Stitch Fix adventure.
Here is what was sent to me in fix #2:

My first thoughts when I opened the box were
  • I like the blue/aqua pattern- Is it a dress, shirt, skirt......
  • I see something pink/red that looks interesting
  • black and blue isn't my favorite color combo
  • ugh- jeans, they will never fit

Octavia Nidia Graphic Print Infinity Scarf $28.00

I love scarves!  The fabric of this scarf was super soft, but I wasn't a huge fan of the blah colors.  I was hoping for something bright and colorful. This was to bland for spring.  RETURNED

Loveappella Shella Knit Top  $54.00
I really liked the color and fabric texture of this shirt.  The shirt was really comfortable and looked nice with jeans and colored pants.  But....it was a little too sheer for me.  I felt like I couldn't wear it without something under it, and then when I tried  to layer it with a tank under it, it just looked ridiculous!  RETURNED

Pixley Montgomery Chevron Cross-Front Top-  $48.00

I knew right away that this was not going to work for me.  I didn't like the blue and black color combo and it just looked baggy.  I tried it on though because you never know!  My initial thoughts were confirmed, this tank was not for me!  It was WAY to loose and baggy and the cross-over front gaped open in an awkward way.  I would have to wear something else under it and I am not really interested in wearing a tank under a tank.  RETURNED

41Hawthorn Renesme Geo Print Faux Wrap Dress-  $78.00

This was the blue/aqua pattern that I noticed right away when I opened my box, and when I saw that it was a wrap dress I was even more excited!  I tried it on and it was perfect!  The fabric was soft and it was lined so it wasn't too sheer.  I like that it is a "faux" wrap dress too- I don't have to worry about the wrap coming undone!  I don't usually spend this much on a dress, but I felt like this dress was colorful, fit great, was well constructed, and could be worn in different seasons.  I got many compliments when I wore this dress to work!  KEPT!

Kut From the Kloth- Dayna Skinny Jean-  $88.00

I don't have a picture of the actual jeans because....well, jeans are jeans.  This was the item I was most hesitant about when I opened the box.  I hate trying to find jeans!  They never fit right and the size I wear always changes from brand to brand.  I can try on 30 pairs of jeans at the store and not find anything that fits just right.  Well, my stylist Natalie must be magic because these jeans are quite possibly the best jeans I have ever tried on!  They have just the right amount of stretch in them and they are the perfect length!  I knew right away I was going to keep these, even though I never spend $88 on jeans!  I have already worn these several times and I still love them!  I am still in awe that I was sent a pair of jeans in the mail by someone who doesn't know me and they ended up being the best fitting jeans I have ever had!  KEPT!!!!

In summary, I kept 2 of the 5 items from this fix.  I think my stylist Natalie did a great job picking items out for me, even though I didn't keep it all.  I asked for color and patterns, and she delivered!  And she is a jeans wizard!

For my next fix I asked for bright colors, spring/summer type clothes and something with either a polka dot or chevron pattern.  Stay tuned, my next Fix is set to arrive later this week!
